There are a variety of Weapons in BATTLEGROUNDS.

Common questions

Q: What are the statistics of the weapons?

A: Head to Weapon Stats.

Q: How do you gather these new weapons before PUBG Corp even announces them?

A: Only some of the weapon articles that we created were from "leaks." But mostly thanks to Reddit, more specifically the /r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS subreddit. Dataminers look at the game files every time the game updates and see what new content, files or even code that's in-game.

Q: What are the list of weapons that PUBG Corp added in Early Access?

A: Head to Monthly Weapons‎.

Q: What are the weapon rarities?

What is PUBG Vector?

Note: Statistics pulled from http://battlegrounds.party/weapons

The Vector is a submachine gun type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS. Introduced in the Early Access Month 1 Update of 2017, the KRISS Vector (formerly the TDI Vector) uses an unconventional delayed blowback system to mitigate recoil that makes it useful for controlling automatic fire at close ranges.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Vector in detail

The KRISS Vector, with its low recoil and average damage is most useful in close to mid-range combat. Boasting high rate of fire and low recoil, this gun also has the benefit of having the most attachment slots of all the SMGs to further increase its performance.

The major downside to this gun is — aside from it being less powerful than the UMP9 — its very small magazine capacity of just 13 rounds. Thus, extended magazines are a must for anyone wishing to use this gun further into the match.

  • Modern SMG using delayed blowback system and chambered for .45 ACP ammunition.
  • ~ In-game description

Update history

Update #14 – v3.8.37.5
  • To make the Vector a little easier to find, we’ve increased its spawn rate at the expense of the spawn rate of the UMP-9 (overall SMG spawn rate remains the same).

Update #13 – v3.8.30.2

  • Lightweight Grip and Half Grip can now be attached to the Vector.

Update #12 – v3.8.21.9

  • Adjusted to be more effective in short range combat.
    • Increased limb shots modifier.
    • Slightly increased the damage of the Vector.
    • Decreased vertical recoil.
    • Decreased recoil and scope sway when moving in ADS.
    • Increased ADS transition speed.

Early Access (Month 3 Update) – v2.4.13.7

  • Vector now supports burst mode.

Early Access (Month 2 Update) – v2.3.28

  • Tactical stock is now attachable to the Vector.
  • Reduced bullet damage slightly.
  • Increased deviation gain per shot.

Trivia

  • The Vector is based on the TDI Vector. Despite firing the .45 ACP cartridge, it actually does less damage than the UMP9 although this is likely for balancing reasons.

What is PUBG UMP9?

Note: Statistics pulled from http://battlegrounds.party/weapons

The UMP9 is a submachine gun type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.

The UMP, short for Universal Machine pistol, is a submachine gun designed by Heckler & Koch. The UMP is the successor to the MP5, though both are in service to this day. The UMP9 featured in the game is the 9mm variant of the original UMP45 chambered for .45 ACP. Widely adopted by police and governmental agencies, with wide adoption specifically amongst the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency, it also sees popularity with players as an well-rounded, balanced SMG with manageable recoil and decent firepower.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds UMP9 in detail

The UMP9 deals the second highest damage of all the SMGs, right behind the Tommy Gun, making it a very viable late-stage gun when fitted out with attachments. Its already controllable recoil can be reduced even further with a foregrip and compensator, although stealthy players may opt for a suppressor instead since it already has minimal recoil to begin with.

  • Modern submachine gun using 9mm ammunition.

Update #12 – v3.8.21.9
  • Adjusted to be more effective in short range combat.
    • Increased limb shots modifier.

Trivia

  • The dry reload animation shows the user pulling the charging handle back and letting it go to reset it to its original position after inserting a new magazine, instead of pulling it back and up to lock it in place, replacing the magazine and then slapping the handle down to load the gun.

What is PUBG Stun Grenade?

Stun Grenade is a grenade type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Stun Grenade in detail

A Stun Grenade, also known as a flash grenade or flashbang, is a grenade with several chemical and metallurgic properties that result in a loud pop and blinding flash of light when detonated. This grenade is meant to cause temporary, not permanent damage, and is great for non-mortal wounding, though it is often used as a precursor to armed conflict to clear rooms and buildings.

The Stun Grenade will cause strong disorientation to everyone within the blast radius (~5m) in the form of a loud ringing and a strong reduction in framerate. If detonated within a player’s cone of vision (based off the FPS camera), the player will be completely blinded by white light for several seconds. (Exact timing stat needed)

  • M84 Stun Grenade. (Make victims blind, deaf for max 10 sec.)
  • ~ In-game description

Update history

Update #14 – v3.8.37.5
  • The maximum effective range of stun grenade has been increased to 20m.
  • Depending on distance from the explosion, the direct effect can blind the player for a maximum of 5.5 seconds and a minimum of one second (when 20m away).
  • Depending on distance from the explosion, the indirect effect can blind the player for a maximum of three seconds.
  • Characters blinded by a stun grenade now cover their faces. This is a new animation.
  • Stun grenades will now briefly blind and deafen the thrower if they explode behind their back when cooked.
  • You’ll now be unable to ADS while blinded.

Update #12 – v3.8.21.9

What is PUBG Smoke Grenade?

Smoke Grenade is a grenade type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.

Currently, the smoke is client side, not server side. Smoke also cannot be seen from a certain distance, this means it’s only useful during mid-range combat.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Smoke Grenade in detail

Smoke grenades are a throwable device packed with a mixture of potassium chlorate, lactose, and typically a dye for signalling. The chemicals mix with air to create a smoke screen that temporarily removes battlefield awareness.

What is PUBG S1897?

Note: Statistics pulled from http://battlegrounds.party/weapons

The S1897 is a shotgun type weapon in BATTLEGROUNDS.

The Winchester Model 1897 “Trench Gun” (simply called the S1897 in-game) was designed by John Moses Browning. More than a million have been produced during its service era, used in conflicts from the Philippine-American War all the way through to the Gulf War. Typically chambered for 12 and 16 gauge, the in-game iteration is chambered solely for 12 gauge shotshell. Since its introduction in 1897 is has seen usage with military, law enforcement and hunters due to its effectiveness in close range combat, and now sees usage within BATTLEGROUNDS.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds S1897 in detail

The S1897 excels in clearing houses with the simple point-and-shoot principle, its spread allowing a greater probability of hitting the target. Careful aim is still essential since missing one shot can easily result in death due to the time required to rack the pump.

With a choke attached, the shotgun gains considerable range in the form of 25% tighter spread, being able to take out opponents from a fairly long distance. The reduced spread means reduced effectiveness in close quarters combat however. The duckbill choke has the opposite effect, spreading the pellets over a wider horizontal area, increasing effectiveness at close range.

  • Modest shotgun.
  • ~ In-game description

Update history

Update #12 – v3.8.21.9
  • Increased overall damage and effective range.
    • Increased limb shots modifier (shooting limbs now does more damage).
    • Slightly decreased the damage of the S1897.
    • Reduced pellet spread by 25%.
